I am a Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist at The Children’s Hospital, and have been involved as a Board Member of the Professionals Miracles Foundation (PMF) since 2005. Although my career began as an oncologist I now take care of patients with thrombotic and hemostatic disorders. In the laboratory, we research the role of the immune system in brain tumors, and the immunological basis of coagulation disorders. During the beginning of my fellowship one of the first patients I cared for was Jaime Romano; therefore, I have seen where this PMF started and the great progress and contributions it has made to the community since that time. The diversity projects, lectures and patient grants that the PMF helps fund is phenomenal, and it exemplifies how broadly an organization can help by reaching out to people one at a time.
